    Department of Economic and Social History   undertakes diverse interdisciplinary research endeavoursin the framework of the two Chairs:Chair for Economic History and UNESCO Chair for Heritage and Urban Studies

    2. Socio-economic and spatial development of Galicia in the 19th century;
    3. Demographic history of Polish lands
    4. Small towns in the Early Modern period

    Description:
    Scientific and research activity of the Department of Public Economy and Administration focuses on issues of public governance, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms of
    the modern state, public administration, relations between public authorities and entities of the market economy and the social sector and public policies design and implementation process.
    Main research activities of the Department include issues of:
    • Public administration,
    • Public Management,
    • Analysis and evaluation of public policies,
    • The labor market, social security and health,
    • Culture in the context of socio-economic development,
    • Innovation and competitiveness of the economy,
    • The development of the metropolis,

    The department has developed a modern formula linking theoretical research to project implementation. The institution participates in numerous prestigious research and
    implementation projects (domestic and foreign). An important complement to research conducted at the Department is preparation of comprehensive diagnoses for key areas of the state and the economy (eg, competitiveness, innovation, local government).
