Description:

Packaging Department is scientific unit conducting complex research in area of packaging and durability of packaged products including Modified Atmosphere Packaging studies
For many years in Packaging Department are conducted research concerning the importance of packaging in consumers’ protection. Conducted research focuses mostly on: legal requirements which must be meet by packaged products launched on the market, social responsibility and consumer law, the role of packaging in market communication and packaging as a tool of consumers’ education.
The newest scientific trend realized in research are social aspects in packaging science. Main scientific topics taken in studies so far were: the role of packaging science in formation of sustainable society, social aspects of packaging sector development, packaging safety, environmental aspects of packaging, the state of knowledge and attitude of packaging producers and consumers  od packaged product in the field of packaging social aspects.
Department in the frame of Eyetracking Packaging Laboratory has a stationary device  which trace, register and analyze visual activity - Eyetracker Tobii X2-30 Compact with appropriate software. Research using eye-tracking method is based on the eye bowl movement. Concerning focusing and noticing packaging elements. Tests are conducted on chosen consumers’ groups.  Packaging research with usage of mentioned method are conducted in specific aspects: distinguish of packaging on the background of competition products, appropriate identification of the product and products safety by research on packaging failures with critical importance for consumers and additional elements such as first opening-protections.
Department conducts research and accelerated storage tests for determining the durability of food and other products. Also are performed the basic chemical analysis (protein, fat, dry matter) and evaluation of the quality of raw materials and packaged products.
