Description:

The character of the department is interdisciplinary. It is made up of scientist representing various fields of social sciences: economics, political science, law. Diversity of academic interest lets our staff to encounter the topic of the European integration from various angles and to reach synergy effect in our intellectual exploration. In general, we are interested in economical, political, and legal outcomes of the integration process, when in particular, we are focused on: (1) the perspectives of European market’s development; (2) the common currency proliferation and its effects; (3) measuring the social and economic distance between the “old” member states of the European Union and the “new” ones; (4) barriers in developing the common foreign, security and defence policy; (5) the future of the European project in the perspective of democratic deficit in European policy making; (6) the values of the European project (especially the fundamental role of equality and all its legal implementation formulas); (7) liberalization of energy market in the EU and “energy solidarity” in the EU; (8) obstacles for creating an innovation-friendly environment in member states; (9) European Social policy and social dimension of the EU integration; (10) future and perspectives of the EU political and economic integration.
